Human Resource Orientation

Problem
New employees were often unable to start with the company immediately. They could only begin work after they attended a monthly orientation session which required human resource staff commitment and other leadership staff to participate
Solution
VLS observed the traditional, all day, face-to-face new employee orientation and collaborated to design a Blended Learning delivery model. This included a first day orientation, on demand Rich Media modules, and a revised bi-monthly large group orientation session.
Distribution
The company now provides on demand orientation modules posted to their Intranet for new employee-viewing the first day or within their first few weeks of hiring. These presentations include: Mission , Values and Vision; Employee Benefits; Policies and Procedures; and Safety.
End Results
Employees are now able to start work on any day of month. This increases productivity and minimizes the amount of staff time needed to prep and attend orientation sessions. The face-to-face orientation time is now delivered reserved for hands on, applied learning which will have a greater impact on their job performance.
