Using Mediasite Live FAQs

How is the Mediasite Live Capture Station used?
The Capture Station is typically installed and used in a facility where presentations are given. It is installed alongside a projector or any other presentation sources or tools to capture content and turn it into rich media.

How many simultaneous users can view presentations with the Mediasite Live system?
Any number of simultaneous users or concurrent sessions can be supported with the appropriate storage, server, and distribution infrastructure in place.

How can I ensure the highest quality of audio, video and image content?
Mediasite Live uses advanced capture technologies to ensure the highest quality audio, video and images. To get the best quality use a good camera and microphone. The quality of the viewing experience is also dependent on the available bandwidth on the network. It is important to choose the optimum streaming setting at which to capture the rich presentation for your viewers.

Where does my content get stored?
Mediasite Live can store your content directly on the capture station or on designated media servers if you require a more scalable distribution solution.

How is a presentation made available for on-demand use?
The Mediasite Live system automatically creates rich media content every time it is used. This content can be saved and made available for reuse on-demand.

Do I need authoring or production tools with Mediasite Live?
No authoring or production tools are required to make a rich media presentation using Mediasite Live. Simply make the presentation, capture it with Mediasite Live and publish it for viewing.

How does Mediasite Live interface with the projector?
Mediasite Live does not interface with the projector directly. Instead, a video splitter can be used to split the video signal from the presenter's PC, sending it to both the projector and the Mediasite Live capture station. In that way, the image is projected while at the same time captured using Mediasite Live.

Can I use Mediasite Live with other presentation tools such as document cameras, electronic whiteboards, etc.?
Unlike alternative solutions, Mediasite Live allows presenters to use and include content from any number of presentation tools including PCs, document cameras, and smart boards as part of their presentations

How do I view a Mediasite Live presentation?
The Mediasite Live System includes free use of the Live Viewer. You can use the viewer to watch live or on-demand presentations. Any Web browser supporting a Windows Media Player (6.4 or later) can view a rich media presentation captured by Mediasite Live. There are no plugins or additional software required.
